KOMONDORS The Komondor, an ancient breed, historically has been used by herdsman. These dogs resemble sheep enough so that when they are at work within a flock, they can be tough to diifferentiate. They are guardian dogs that truly lov e their jobs, which they take very seriously. They can be entrusted to work faithfully in isolated places. This breed should be thoroughly socialized. They can be counted upon to defend what they think is theirs to defend. They are very intelligent, and can figure much out on their own. Country living is comfortable for Komondors, and, in my opinion, healthy. They enjoy their territory and frankly relish the job job of defending it. As breeders, our goal is to raise healthy, well-conformed dogs to be placed in homes where they will be loved a lifetime. Komondors are very devoted family members. We also take our job as breeders seriously, as we feel that certain problems can be avoided if precautions are taken. We do not linebreed (inbreed) our dogs, as we believe that using different bloodlines will make healthier dogs. Since the genepool is limited, making the right choices is important. We do have several bloodlines to choose from. The upkeep of the Komondor can be pretty basic or more complicated if used for showing purposes. Also depending on the climate you live in, they can be maintained easily enough through scissoring their coats off come warmer weather. If you want to know more about komondors, we will help you however we can. Please feel free to inquireanswering questions is part of our job. We have litters available throughout the year, and enjoy meeting people who are serious about getting to know the livestck guardian dog (LGD). Terry Griffin-Gay |
